![]() ![]() I have i7 8750H in my G3 Dell laptop and that thing used to hit 100c brand new out of the box, same goes with all the other gaming Dell's. Undervolting cpu helps alot, if you can find the sweet spot, it can lower your temps by 20C which is alot. ![]() Most heat comes from CPU and GPU, since they share the same heatsink. of his whole laptop doesnt matter, what does matter, is the temps of his components. in order to lower it's temp.ĦC/12T cpu in laptop is hard to cool, I'm talking about mobile H cpu's. (Running at high temps could shorten the life of some components, however, so keeping it below 80C-ish is best.)Īt max temp, every cpu will throttle and thus, lose it's performace, 'cause it's gonna temp. Note - the absolute temperature of the laptop doesn't matter, as long as it can handle it - that is it doesn't throttle itself or outright fail. It's not worth it to have a CPU that gives you 240 fps but hits 90 C+ doing it. If you want to run the game on Ultra, you need a laptop that can perform well while staying around the 80 C temp range. Some laptops offer excellent performance capabilities, boost, etc., but they come with a string attached: overheating. However, I would also recommend going a step further: Once you've narrowed down the options to the processor you want, read online reviews for that specific laptop. I would personally recommend the i7 (Invidia 2060 is overkill, but if you can afford it, why not go with something that will last you for pretty much any game you'll want to play) as it seems to give me much better fps than the i5 I used to have. Thank you for any assistance/guidance you can provide. Hoping for some insight from the forum folks. ![]() I haven't bought a laptop in a long time and the number of options are staggering. They both seem like they would be able to handle SWTOR well. Not sure how much the difference would be between the listed video cards as most benchmarks go by CoD/LoL/etc. Will an Intel i5-9300H with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti play the game on utra settings, or should I go with the slightly more expensive Intel i7-9750H and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060? I have read about how this game relies on the cpu more than most games, and the fact that the i7 performs multi-core tasks about 20% faster makes me lean into the i7. I am looking to buy a new laptop to play SWTOR and have come here for advice on CPU/graphics card options. ![]()
